METAL FABRICATOR'S HANDBOOK 5 5 1 1
Outstanding sourcebook for beginners, journeymen and expert craftsman as well Having been involved in just about every phase of metal fabrication involving my career as a bodyman, millwright and fabricator/ welder, I am familiar with many current and dying aspects of fabrication. I have built numerous hotrods, custom motorcycles, pharmaceutical and food production machines, large industrial machines (worked on a roller line for a paper mill that was over 1.5 miles of continuous roll, for example) so- pretty much everything from soup to nuts. To say that this book impressed the daylights out of me, is a gross understatement. I have owned it since about 1991, and still refer back to it at the very least, a couple of times a year. Ron Fournier presents everything in a clear concise manner, while using easy to understand laymans terms, and educates the reader in many techniques that have been lost from common use over the last couple of decades, through the introduction of "custom" aftermarket parts readily available to the consumer now. That leaves the guy or gal that desires something truly unique, or simply wants to be able to say "I built this from SCRATCH", standing on the outside looking in, frustrated that they cannot bring their visions to life in metal. Enter Ron and his publication- now a novice as well as an expert, builder/ fabricator has a source of knowledge gained through MANY years of trial and error, and can save themselves the headache (AND wasted money, time and labor) of learning these techniques 'the hard way'. I would venture to say that even if a person only used it for one project, they would feel that the book was a bargain at twice the price. I would happily recommend this book to anyone who has the desire to learn more about metalworking in general, and as a matter of fact, have given this publication as a gift, to some people I have known over the years. It even spurred on one young lady I gave it to, to go to schools to become a professional welder, and she is now one of the finest welders I have seen in the trade for some time now. In short- do you want to know how to built it out of metal and build it right? Then do yourself a favor and buy this book. It will serve you quite well for years to come! Thanks for taking the time to read this review, now go get the book! Lucky November 30, 2011
