Just what I neededI just received this and decided to test it right away on a 3/16" brake line leftover I had laying around. I won't use this very often, but when I do, I want it to work. The tubing did not slip. The flare was dead center. I have used the other cheaper versions of the wingnut tightened tube holder. When they do work, the possibility of having an off-center flare can happen. This tool won't let that happen. Being able to do metric and SAE as well as bubble flare is nice. This tool set is made well and does not feel or look cheap.

Second best to a hydraulic setup. The MINFL165 flare kit from Matco is an excellent choice for those that want more consistent results from a flare tool. While this tool isn't as good as one of the $300-400 hydraulic flare tools, the performance for the price is excellent.
Some of the inferior flare tools more often than not come with bent adapters, and flaring bars that do not line up. I've spent countless hours working with tools that simply don't perform. The Matco tool is quick, easy to use, and reliable. The self-centering nature of an inline flare tool keeps flares perfectly centered whenever you use it. Regardless of if you're fabricating new lines or repairing lines in-vehicle, the kit will not let you down.
However, the aesthetic quality could use a little work. The yoke itself is the only piece with a finish on it. The base plates, as well as most of the adapters are bare metal. I cannot speak for the longevity of this kit. The instructions included are sufficient, but you should have some experience flaring lines if you intend to use this.
Preparation is key regardless of the tool you choose to use. Though it's not in the instructions, I tend to use a drop of brake fluid on the mating surfaces of the yoke and the line to prevent galling of both the line and the yoke.
If you want a tool that is going to get the job done, AND has the versatility to do everything from 3/16th brake lines to 3/8th fuel line, then the MINFL165 is a solid decision. The flares made with this tool are true, and should not leak for the lifetime of the vehicle if made correctly.

Great ToolThis tool is great. I was amazed at how much easier and better it was to make a flare. I had a few in a very tight area. With this flaring tool it was easily done. Everyone should have this kit.

You've got to get one of these for your tool box.I tried one of the $30 tools from a discount place only to find that it didn't work which caused several bad flares and a lot of frustration. This tool arrived very quickly after ordering. I was amazed at how much easier and better it was to make a flare. I had one in a very tight area. With this inline tool it was a snap. I'm going to put Matco on my favorites list.
